Four Loko

“Your Night Starts Here” is the tagline for this “premium flavored malt beverage.” Originally released as an alcoholic energy drink, the “Four” in the name refers to the four key ingredients: caffeine, taurine, guarana, and… alcohol - LOTS of it! It’s no wonder that this high-alcohol energy drink quickly became popular amongst young people who renamed it “blackout in a can!”

In 2010, the FDA stated that Four Loko was a “public health concern,” prompting the drink to be reformulated. In 2016, Four Loko made a comeback in China, where it was referred to as “virginity losing liquor.”
