CNN spent over $300 million creating their very own news streaming service, creatively titled CNN+. They signed big-name anchors and had a lavish Manhattan launch party. The expectation was to quickly reach 2 million subscribers and compete with The New York Times. A month later it was shut down due to a saturated subscription market of more interesting streaming platforms, and a lack of engaging content.
